Let's Talk IG Stories!

Hi everyone!

Lena here – I wanted to stop by and talk a little bit about my favorite Instagram Topic – INSTA STORIES!

One of the cool features of Instagram that seems to often get overlooked, is the Instagram Story feature. The majority of Instagram users have at least shared a story once – but do you really know what’s behind it and how you can use it to your advantage?

Let’s talk IG stories!

If you have followed us on Instagram for a while now, you might have noticed a pattern of stories and maybe if you have really paid attention to detail you have noticed the difference of branded content and daily life content.

If we’re being honest, the stories don’t just get put together randomly. We put a lot of thought into it and create a consistent schedule to make sure we get our point across to our followers without being overwhelming or boring.

We know not everyone knows exactly what IG stories are for and how they can be beneficial to your own account or business account –

so let me explain.

It is important to have a consistent schedule, so your stories aren’t just posted randomly or not at all. This will not only help you create content when it’s needed but it will also help your followers to know what they are looking for. For example, you want to create stories that correlate to the days of the week, like “Motivation Monday”, “Wisdom Wednesday” or anything else your creative mind can come up with. It does not have to match (these were just examples) but you want to make sure you can create consistency for steady branding.

To help you with this, I personally have found it useful to create a schedule specifically for your stories. It helps you stay on track and you can easily plan ahead, which saves you lots and lots of time. We may have mentioned it before, but we use an app/website called Planoly. It’s your virtual schedule where you can connect your Instagram account to (free if you only connect one account – so definitely worth it!!). It lets you schedule Instagram posts as well as stories in advance and boy has it saved me some precious time.

Did you know that according to videoMob “1 in 4 millennials actively seek stories of products and services they are considering buying before they make a decision?” So, what does that tell us. Instagram Stories are important – like super important. No matter if you share insights about your product or just daily life you want to make sure you directly talk to your followers. They want to feel involved and the best way to do it is if you talk directly to them. But always remember you want to switch it up– JUST talking about products or JUST about your daily life can get boring for your followers.

Lastly, just with everything else on Instagram you want to always increase your exposure. How to do that you ask? Well easy enough – shareable stories will increase your exposure. If one of your followers shares your story with their followers that means you just added so many more views to it. Whenever you post a story about a product and you would like to get some exposure add about 10 hashtags, tag accounts that connect with the product or you (not just random – it has to be meaningful and selected) and add the location to it. I promise you it will get you more exposure than you thought it would.

If I got you hooked and you feel inspired now, you should definitely try and experiment with some stories! I can’t wait to see some on Instagram! I also added a mailchimp link on the bottom for you. Add your email address and we’ll send you a download to three of our favorite shareable IG stories.
