Going to get real with you guys on this Wednesday night…
One month ago today, Becca and Brandon welcomed Callaway into their family, our team’s 3rd baby in less than 24 hours.
As you can imagine, the month of September was quite a month for Hometown Creative. In one month, we launched 4 websites, added a new Hometown Girl to the team, had 3 babies, and a 2 week long NICU stay. It was the best month of our lives and probably the hardest for the business.
In this business, there is no true maternity leave. There have been no days when I’ve focused only on being a mom and not on also being a business owner.
Through this time period, we’ve had clients come out of the woodworks with support and encouragement and gifts. We’ve had kind and gracious emails and phone calls – and, we’ve had so much more of that than anything to the contrary. But we have experienced clients who have done the total opposite.
Here’s where I’m going with this: for us mompreneurs, there is such a deep level of respect we can embrace. No one knows this struggle like we do. We can practice what we preach with “women supporting women” by actually supporting one another through the most vulnerable times of our lives.
And, in turn, I hope the business world recognizes how crucial it is to have moms in the workplace. There is truly no level of dedication and sacrifice that outweighs that of a mother. That level of commitment is what drives us to provide the best level of services we can provide.
Consider me off my soap box, but had it on my heart to share our experience in hopes that we might learn from it.
