Yeah yeah, I know what you’re thinking.
Greatttt, another blog, as if there aren’t enough blogs out here in the world.
But, if you know anything about me (Gracin here, btw) you know the written word is my absolute love language. And, you know that it’s been quite a while since I have shared my heart on a blog on the internet.
A little brief stroll through history: I wrote a blog in college titled: “The Business that Made me,” and it picked up a bit of traction. I continued to write for various newspapers and on a personal blog throughout my remaining years at Clemson and then blogged a bit through the first year of our marriage.
And then, well life got in the way. I’ve continued writing but mostly just my disorganized thoughts in a prayer journal periodically.
Yet, over the past few years, I’ve felt a little restless. There are so many things I’ve wanted to say, thoughts I’ve wanted to share, perspectives I’ve wanted to put out that I’ve been scared to because of the division we’re experiencing in the world today. It’s a weird time. I feel like I say this casually once or twice a day in conversation. But, it truly is. It’s a time when people don’t talk across the “aisle” to one another, they yell. There’s little room for talk of loving Jesus without being asked about divisive beliefs. You can’t be from the north without making some snide comment about us southerners. It’s Right vs. Left, Pro vs. Against, you get it.
It’s always who our husband’s next opponent is or who our rival is playing. But in the midst of an industry that revolves around Saturday night games, there’s this deep need for unity, for friendships where we’re on each other’s teams no matter which side of the field we sit on, or rather which side of the aisle we find ourselves.
There’s a need for moms to know there are other moms who will find themselves moving across the country this off season. There’s a need for side hustlers and entrepreneurs to know that they aren’t alone at 2 am working to meet a deadline, in fact, there’s a lot of moms that I can assure you know this 2 am struggle way too well.
Don’t get me wrong. This podcast, blog, and little corner of the internet is going to be a joyful place. We all know the world is hard, we can relate to that. But, we don’t need to be reminded of it. It’s the joy of coming alongside our husbands in their jobs, or pursuing our careers along like minded women, or tackling the absolute beauty in motherhood that we want to gather together to celebrate. It’s in the gratitude for these things that we believe we can build a community.
And, let’s be real, who better to bring these conversations to the world than Becca and I? We are as starkly different as you can get. I won’t get into the nitty gritty about our belief systems or political stances because again, we don’t need more of this. But, to put it simply, Becca is from Philly and raised Catholic. I on the other hand was born in a tiny southern town in the smack middle of the Bible belt. Now you can imagine how different our belief systems are.
So, that’s what you’ll find here. A team for those who are grinding and hustling off the field, and a place that feels like home for women searching for community.
And of course we’ll be sharing all the fun stuff too.. Like our favorite Game Day ‘fits, jams we’re listening to, our favorite shows to binge and books to read, and everything in between.
With Love,
Rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy
